Hello there!
I'm currently pursuing my doctorate (3rd year) at Purdue University, specializing in UX design and research within the Computer Graphics Technology department. I'm fortunate to collaborate with and being advised by Dr. Austin Toombs and be a part of the C-CI Lab (Community-Computer Interaction Lab). My studies are further enriched with a concentration in Interpersonal Communication at the department of Communication working with Dr. Emily Buehler. Alongside my academic achievements, I have received a certificate in Qualitative Research at Purdue offered by College of Education. Beyond my academic coursework and research, I serve as a graduate research assistant in the Department of Human Development and Family Science. My dedication to my PhD program at Purdue has been recognized with full-funding through Andrews Fellowship.
Diving into my dissertation, I'm exploring the nuances of how relationships are formed within online communities. In an era where the virtual world often precedes real-world interactions, especially among the younger generation, I'm intrigued to understand: How do we connect in this expansive digital realm? And how can computer-mediated communication on socio-technical platforms lay the foundation for these virtual communities?
Before embarking on my PhD journey, I held the position of Lead Information Designer at Gramener, where I harnessed user data to craft impactful visualizations that enhanced our understanding of client needs. Additionally, I've had the privilege of serving as an HCI Researcher at Conduent Labs (formerly known as Xerox Research Centre India) and took on the role of Interaction Designer at 1mg Technologies Pvt. Ltd (previously Healthkart Plus). My postgraduate studies were completed at the National Institute of Design, R&D Bangalore campus, where I majored in Information Design. My core interests lie in User Experience Research, Interaction Design, and Design Research. The skills I've acquired empower me to craft well-rounded, data-driven, and user-focused solutions.
My project portfolio showcases a blend of design research, user-centric approaches, and data visualizations. I often employ storytelling techniques to unravel insights from intricate data sets. I thrive on continuous learning, drawing inspiration from colleagues, users, clients, developers, and researchers alike. My innate curiosity propels me to delve deep into problems and identify potential opportunities.
Outside of my professional life, I am deeply passionate about music, immersing myself in a vast array of genres. I also engage in creating fun motion graphics and personal data visualizations, bringing stories to life through visual means. My interests extend to the tactile art of pottery-making, savoring a variety of world cuisines, and embarking on adventures to lesser-known destinations.
This was a small attempt to spread my enthusiasm for good data visualisation by speaking about my project "A narrative visualisation of Indian stock market" at India HCI conference
Glimpses of few other conferences where I got a chance to present my project titled "Visualisation helping in bridging the supply and demand of blood". Left: Grace Hopper Celebration India 2017; Right: INTERACT 2017
In short, following are the years mentioning about my whereabouts:
