I believe in the power of visualisation to make the data understandable, effective and beautiful. With the natural curiosity to understand the subject matter, I work to discover insights and stories that might not be obvious in the beginning. I focus on transforming these insights into intuitive interfaces, innovative products and services which bring delightful experiences.
I have worked as HCI Researcher at Conduent Labs (formerly known as Xerox Research Centre India). Prior to this, I was working as Interaction Designer at 1mg Technologies Pvt. Ltd (Healthkart Plus). I have completed my post graduation from National Institute of Design, R&D Bangalore campus with major in Information Design. I am primarily interested in the area of User experience design, Interaction design, and design research. Skills that I learned, have always helped me to research, ideate, prototype, visualize and design well-balanced (data-driven and user-centric) solutions to any problem.
At 1mg Technologies, I was working on the product called “Ask Doctor” which is a conversational interface for patients and doctors facilitating online consultation. My role comprised of product analysis through existing user data, conducting user research for better understanding of the problems identified, converting these research insights into new user-friendly features/concepts which could blend into the whole ecosystem of the organization. Ideating on various product interactions and task flows, wire framing the ideas and finally fleshing them into interface screens for various platforms (Web, Mobile web, Android, iOS, Tablets) were few other responsibilities. This process was carried out in collaboration with a diverse team of product managers, developers and QA testers at 1mg. Process continued for every product release till the time we built the most user-centric and engaging product.
Prior to this, I interned with Centre for Budget and Governance Accountability (CBGA), New Delhi, a great set of diverse researchers and analysts. I worked with them on a live project dealing with real-time as well as historical data on Budget. I also designed and helped deliver the beta version of the Open Budgets portal.
In 2013, I graduated as an engineer from BITS Pilani, Goa campus. Thereafter, I worked at Wells Fargo, a US-based bank, as a data analyst for one year. It took me a while to figure out that, although I liked doing data analysis, I loved solving interesting problems through the visualization of the analysis and insights.
My projects include mostly design research, user-centric methodologies, data visualizations frequently using storytelling techniques to show insights in complex data. I am always eager to learn new things from colleagues, users, clients, developers, analysts, researchers or anyone around. Curiosity drives me to understand the core of problems and opportunity areas.
Besides designing, I love creating motion graphics, binge-watch TV series (language no bar) and sometimes (which means very often) people can find me wherever there is food.
This was a small attempt to spread my enthusiasm for good data visualisation by speaking about my project "A narrative visualisation of Indian stock market" at India HCI conference
Glimpses of few other conferences where I got a chance to present my project titled "Visualisation helping in bridging the supply and demand of blood". Left: Grace Hopper Celebration India 2017; Right: INTERACT 2017
In short, following are the years mentioning about my whereabouts:
